Biological
Terrain Analysis (BTA) Have you ever wondered if the nutritional supplements you’re taking are really the ones you should be taking? If you have been a long time user of herbal/nutritional products or if you are newly on the path of understanding how to optimalize your health, you’ve probably asked this very thing. There are more and more companies creating more and more “must take” protocols. There are many articles singing the praises of a particular herb, vitamin, or mineral and make it sound like a one-size-fits-all wonder tonic. Rarely is this the case. The concept of biological individuality is being recognized as a vital concept in building a supplement regime that is truly effect, in respect to results and overall cost. This means addressing what your personal health needs currently are and tracking how they change over time. As part of Wild Rose’s efforts to assist in their client’s quest for vibrant health, we are pleased to now offer BTA (Biological Terrain Analysis). BTA is a testing procedure, which utilizes a sample of a client’s urine and saliva to establish a benchmark of health and/or patterns of dysfunction. From there, we can proceed to educate the client on what this means and how they might fix any imbalances with diet, nutritional and herbal supplementation. A written report with recommendations will be supplied. Questions pertaining to the report will also be answerable by email. So, what will this testing procedure reveal? The first category, Electrical Conductivity/Salts/Resistivity, reflects the amount of “stuff” in a person’s system that can conduct electricity. In the human body, this is largely about anions and cations. What’s that? Well, it tells us if you are a 12-volt battery running on 10 volts or 14 volts. Too little activity (10 volts) and we don’t have the energy to make it thru the day and run all the necessary bodily processes. Too much activity (12 14?? volts) and we are apt to short circuit. This usually happens in the form of cardiovascular issues, an obviously growing problem in North America. We also investigate Electron Activity/rH2. This is a measurement of oxidative stress in the body. Cut an apple open and leave it on the table and it turns brown. This is oxidative stress. In human beings, this translates into aging. People taking supplements often take a lot of anti-oxidants in an effort to slow down this process and protect their cells. Obviously this is of benefit. However, it is quite possible to adopt a more-is-better approach and actually create health issues by consuming too many anti-oxidants (vitamin E, vitamin C, beta carotene, selenium, etc.). So, how quickly are you aging? We also test for the level of surface tension in the sample. This reveals the good vs. bad fat ratio in the body. An excess of bad/hard fats and we are oxidizing, aging and breaking down. Too many soft fats and there is inefficient oxygen utilization for energy production. At a cellular level we tend to have loose cell membranes, with an inability to hang on to nutrients. This can result in a tendency to overbuild cells (higher cancer risk). Not so good. Obviously how your effectively you are producing energy is an important piece of information. Most of us already have an inclining of how energetic we feel or don’t feel. Specifically, there are two key pathways of ultimate production of ATP in the body (our energy currency). This involves the burning of sugars and fats. Ideally we cycle equally between these two. If we get stuck and can only use one pathway, this will radically affect our metabolism, weight loss and optimal food choices. This sort of information is why some people succeed with certain weight loss plans and why others won’t lose a pound or actually gain weight. Good info to know huh?! What is the pH of your saliva and urine? The acidity/alkalinity of your body fluids and tissues is key in determining your long-term health. We are capable of balancing all sorts of neat things that we throw at the body: too much coffee, red meat, sugar, pharmaceutical drugs etc. These are strong substances that can radically change our chemistry. The body has an optimal range that it wants to stay in and will go thru all sorts of adjustments to remain there. So, when you are the average North American and you dump all sorts of things into your body on a daily basis that produce overall acidic results, you deplete your system of nutrients such as minerals. This can result in all sorts of symptoms ranging from digestive issues to arthritis to cancer. Knowing where you are (too acidic, too alkaline) will significantly guide your choice of diet and supplements. The BTA testing kit also asks for blood pressure readings, breath-hold tests and asks many lifestyle and history questions to get to know the client in depth. The result is improved insight into what supplements should remain in your program and which should not. It also reveals the need for a cleanse or a more nutritative/tonifying program. An excellent idea for the Fall! *See the “Products” section of this site for details on ordering
the BTA kit.
